Customize working directory in run configuration

I was recently playing around with the standalone package and there I realized it would be nice to apart from choosing which file is supposed to be compiled and where it is to be output to also be able to set the working directory where the latex command is called and adjust the file path automatically

also an option to automatically use the clear aux files function after compilation would be great.

Or maybe just a command line where multiple commands can be entered with macros for stuff like path, content root, file name etc.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, could you clarify exactly what steps you are doing, and what the expected and actual situation is?

Here is an example of using the standalone package:

You can choose a file to compile in the run configuration settings

That is indeed not possible, but I don't see any situation where it would be useful to do so.

You don't need to clear aux files after compilation, pdflatex will automatically overwrite them.

The standalone package always compiles with the working directory being at the position of the tex file integrating the standalone. While if I create a run configuration of the standalone the compilers working directory is at the position of the standalone. If the standalone is in a different directory compared to th integrating tex file this will lead to path errors for included resources.
This could be remedied if the it was possible to change the working directory before the latex compilation.

That is corrrect so does lualatex, but some compilation problems I had could be resolved by cleaning the auxillary files and it keeps the project less crowded. It could be a default off option. I just thought it would be nice to have since it is already implemented but has to be triggerd manually at the moment

Thanks, I think I understand what you mean. So depending on how you input the file, the working directory needs to be somewhere else, and it is not possible for TeXiFy to detect this. Then I agree we need to make it configurable.

If you put all the auxiliary files in a separate directory with the run config option, that should already help a lot.
For avoiding storing auxiliary files at all: this is really difficult (to know which files were generated by your compilation) as many packages define their own extension. However, I would not recommend this, because some aux files are used by packages like bibtex to avoid having to recompile multiple times. If you still want this, you can try compilers like tectonic or create a 'before launch' task in the run config to run latexmk -C.

This is exactly it
I am not certain that this isn't something that should be addressed by the standalone package as well since as far as I know the option to set the working directory doesn't exist for any tex editor but overall I don't think it would hurt to have this configuration option

That's indeed why I was confused initially, usually I use the subfiles package (https://hannah-sten.github.io/TeXiFy-IDEA/editing-a-latex-file.html#subfiles) and there the inputs work correctly with current TeXiFy defaults.
