Hi, I'm an absolute noob at this. I'm on arch. I cloned the repository, installed all the dependencies and replaced the stock awesomewm config with floppy, but when I start awesome nothing really shows up. The background is there, but there is no top bar, nor a bottom one. I can right click and get programs to open, that menu works fine. I tried making my own bar with polybar, but any programs I launch cover it. I'm lost, sorry if the issue is something very dumb that I'm not noticing, but I'd like some help ^^'

It says at the end of the install guide that I should edit the config.lua, is there something I have to do there?

Hello you are not doing anything wrong.. As you might have seen this repo is not maintained currently.. So when lua 5.4 was released a couple of months ago, it created issues on the widgets. Those issues are disgusted here url I am currently looking into the and hopefully fix them and make the PR.
