how to avoid template errors, if key does not exist

If data.key (in my config file) does not exist, the following results in an error:

{{- if .key }}

text here...

{{- end }}

I was searching for hours how I can check if the key exits or make if assume the test to be false, if the key doesn't exist. Unfortunately to no avail.

Instead of throwing an error, I rather want the block not to run, when the key does not exist.

Use the get function. It's documented as part of the sprig functions and I think it's get "key" ., but I'm not really sure offhand.

It's get . "key" but close enough :)
