Question about pass cache mechanism.

As stated in the document, the output of the pass command is cached. So I expect that once chezmoi run pass to decrypt my files, the next time I run chezmoi, the pass command will not be invoke for that same PASS_NAME anymore.

For example, my dot_ssh/private_id_ed25519_home_pc.tmpl file:

So my question is:

1. How exactly does pass command output is cached ?
2. Can I control when or how often the pass (or gopass) command is invoke ?
   Something like chezmoi status --exclude pass

The ideal behavior is that pass will only be invoke once and only invoke again if there's a new PASS_NAME or when I explicitly tell it to do so.

The output is cached for the duration of chezmoi's execution. Once chezmoi terminates, the cached is discarded.

2. Can I control when or how often the pass (or gopass) command is invoke ?

Yes, but you'll need to do it manually with an environment variable. See #3202 (comment).
